We all love a night out, whether it’s fine dining, or going to see your favourite musician, but now and then, a night in can be just what we need.
The November rain hitting the window; blustery, cold weather as winter sets in can really set the mood. A night in by yourself can be a rarity but definitely not something to pass up. Curling up by the fire with delicious home-cooked food, a good film or a good book. Here’s a quick guide to the perfect night in.
Preparation
Tidy up! Make sure everything is clean and tidy, wash your blankets, dust, vacuum and fluff the cushions. You don’t want errands playing on your mind when you’re trying to relax.
Your surroundings are important and making them clean and tidy will aid relaxation. Adding some fresh flowers to the room can brighten everything up and add a little something extra too.
Also, make sure you complete your to do list and get everything done, as with the tidying you won’t relax with niggling little tasks you should have done in the day.
Go shopping. Buy some delicious food to cook, snacks and something nice to drink. New lounge wear too, if you want your night in to be extra special. A new outfit on a night out isn’t unusual, so a night in shouldn’t be any different.
Food:
Many people opt for a takeaway on a night in, but this can sometimes leave you feeling a bit sluggish after. That’s why we would recommend cooking something special.
A favourite here at Øsoliving is a warming and comforting Shepherd’s pie.

A Shepherd’s pie cooked in the Morso Kit Oven Dish will cook evenly, taste delicious and retain heat long after it’s been removed from the oven (great for second helpings). There’s nothing quite like cast iron cookware.
Keeping to the theme of heartwarming food, if you have a sweet tooth, our multi-cocotte and casserole dishes are great for cooking fruit pies and crumbles. Here’s a recipe by Jamie Oliver for a classic apple crumble you might like: Click Here

Lighting and Mood:
As we said above, adding a vase with some flowers can brighten up your surroundings and will make the evening feel a little more special.
Lighting too is important, a good lamp or even some tea lights can add a nice warm glow. We have some beautiful tea lights, these gorgeous autumnal colours, really add to the atmosphere. Add some essential oils or scented candles too for added relaxation.
Alternatively and our favourite way to add mood and good lighting is by getting the wood burner on and sitting by the warm toasty glow of the flames. Nothing like the heat & warm glow from a real fire. Whether you have a wood burner, multi-fuel or an insert, the warmth and comfort is incomparable.
Entertainment:
Whether you opt for some classical music and relaxation, a movie, finishing off your favourite series on Netflix or a book, your entertainment is important. Whatever makes you happy, do it and enjoy it; you’ve earned it.
We hope you have found this quick and easy guide useful in creating a cosy night in. We all deserve a little me time, from time to time.
